I and a group of friends used to drink at the Bridgewater Hotel mainly on a Friday night.

One night we were approached by a friendly sort of guy who was wanting to establish a local canal cruising club. He was soliciting for names (founder members) amongst the pub regulars. We all gave our names in support of his quest. Having acquired the minimum number of founder members he then founded the Worsley Cruising Club. He remained a true friend afterwards. His name was Norman Beardsall.

All the best,

Mark..
